Cane Trash Burner

The burner burns the leaves off sugarcane stalks at the sugar factory. The energy released is used to raise steam which can be used in the sugar refining process, or to generate electricity.

This technology makes it unnecessary to burn sugarcane in the field before harvesting to remove the leaves. The energy captured reduces the reliance of sugar factories to use coal for additional energy requirements.

A three-dimensional drawing of a full-scale cane trash burner. The “cleaned cane” would be fed directly to the shredder of the raw sugar factory. From there, sugar extraction would proceed as in the traditional extraction process.
